iPad entry-level vs iPad Pro: comparison of the use of the Apple Pencil

  • The new iPad, announced last week at the keynote Apple, is classified entry and has the advantage of supporting the Apple Pencil, like the iPad Pro. Is the experience the same between the new iPad and the iPad Pro?
  • The video above compares the two tablets, especially at the level of the Apple Pencil. The general experience is close between the two tablets, but the author of the video recognizes that he feels a slight difference with the iPad Pro. This is normal: the screen of the iPad Pro is 120 Hz, against 60 Hz for the new iPad entry level. Thus, the fluidity is improved. "[The iPad Pro] follows the pace," says the author. "It gives more the impression that I write on paper," he adds.
  • We can see the difference when the image is slowed down to 5m25 of the video. It is observed that the line drawn on the iPad Pro actually follows the Apple Pencil, where there is a slight delay on the new iPad.
  • Nevertheless, it is good to note that the prices are not the same at all. The iPad 2018 is available from 359 euros. We start from 739 euros for the iPad Pro. The latter logically embeds better components, especially at the screen: laminated screen, anti-reflective coating, ProMotion technology, wide range of colors (P3) and True Tone display. There is also the A10X Fusion processor and twice as much RAM. Apple is mainly targeting schools with the entry-level iPad.
